Common Core State Standards
I believe the shift to new standards is both necessary and incredibly challenging. I am glad that those in leadership have challenged us all to take the next step in helping our students not only compete in a global economy but also being college and career ready by the time they leave high school.
The content standards are written to inform educators, students and parents as to what is expected to be mastered in order to be fully competent in students' mathematical abilities. As opposed to the Illinois State Learning Standards in past years, these standards are less in number but deeper in their concept knowledge and understanding.
